The Dragon squirmed, and was rewarded with a sword stabbed through her wing membrane. "Never seen a gold one before." The owner of the man spoke, staring down at the wing he had pierced as a man might gaze at a butterfly pinned to a board. The Dragon hated him, a sudden, ugly feeling. She growled, and tried to raise her head to snap him in half, but the chains held fast, and she had to be content with glaring at him with one, burning eye. Another voice, another dirty, lying, human. "Shut it, you aint never seen a Dragon before. Hoo, this is gonna make us rich!" Monster Hunters. She had been a Monster Hunter, in her human guise, but not of this ilk. She had had honour, she had fought to defend. She opened her jaws scant inches and hissed at them. There were many of them; they had one and all tracked and tricked her down here, shooting her wings full of holes, stabbing bleeding wounds in between her scales, chaining her to the ground. She hated them all. They had lured her, on one of the rare days she had flown as a Dragon, with a human child. Wether they had sought to appeal to her curiosity, her sympathy, or, horror of horrors!, they had thought her hungry, it had worked. There were at least fifteen of them. Any less, and she would have crushed them all. She opened her jaws and growled again, eyes burning, blood staining her scales.
